Fresh Ideas for Kitchens & Bathrooms This May 🌻

May is finally here, the days are getting longer, and everything just feels a bit fresher. It’s usually about this time people start looking around their home thinking… maybe it’s time for a bit of an upgrade!

If your kitchen isn’t quite working the way you want anymore, or your bathroom’s starting to feel a bit tired, you’re definitely not alone. These are the spaces we use every single day, so when they’re not right, you really notice it.

In kitchens, a lot of people are keeping things simple but making smarter choices with materials and layout. Handleless units are still really popular, especially in matt finishes like graphite, cashmere, or dove grey. We’re also fitting a lot of shaker-style doors for anyone who wants something a bit more classic but still on trend.

Worktops are a big one at the moment and Quartz is probably the most requested.  Brands like Silestone and Caesarstone are great because they’re durable, low maintenance, and come in loads of finishes. We’re also seeing more people go for solid wood worktops like oak or walnut if they want to bring a bit of warmth into the space.

Storage wise, it’s all about making the kitchen actually work for you. Things like pull out larders, corner carousel units, and deep pan drawers make a huge difference day to day. Integrated appliances are another popular choice as they keep everything looking clean and uncluttered.

When it comes to flooring, LVT (luxury vinyl tile) is a solid option. It’s hard wearing, water resistant, and works really well in both kitchens and bathrooms. Tile is still popular too, especially large porcelain tiles for a more seamless look.

Bathrooms are definitely moving towards that clean, spa-like feel. Walk in showers with frameless glass screens are a big favourite, often paired with stone effect porcelain tiles or marble style finishes. Wall hung vanity units make the room feel bigger and easier to keep clean.

For fixtures, we’re fitting a lot of brushed brass, matt black, and chrome finishes depending on the look people are going for. Countertop basins and floating units are also becoming more common if you want something a bit more modern.

If space allows, built in niches in the shower are a great touch as they are practical and look really smart.  For a bit of added comfort, underfloor heating is something more customers are asking for, especially paired with tiled floors.

May is also a great time to get things moving if you want everything done before summer. No one wants builders in the middle of those warm, sunny weeks when you’d rather just be enjoying your home!

At the end of the day, it’s all about making your home work better for you. Whether that’s a full refit or just updating a few things, a well done kitchen or bathroom can make everyday life that bit easier.

If you’ve been thinking about it, now’s as good a time as any to start the conversation. Even if you’re not 100% sure what you want yet, it’s always worth chatting things through and seeing what’s possible.
